Operations Manager Job Description

The Operations Manager is a key role in the Kitchen Table Santa Fe. The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the kitchen. Their primary responsibilities include maintaining a safe and compliant facility, coordinating with inspectors, and acting as the on-site manager of the staff and contractors who help to maintain the facility. The Operations Manager also helps with onboarding new members, monitoring member compliance, providing technical assistance to members, tracking performance and outcomes, and marketing and coordinating events. The Operations Manager works closely with the Founders to implement policy and price changes, procure new equipment, and identify inefficiencies. 

This person will manage day-to-day tasks including:

  • Onboarding members

  • Manage daily operations of kitchen and monitor all members equipment use

  • Managing Food Corridor including 

    • Scheduling 

    • Billing/financial management

    • Tracking performance and outcomes

  • Special event coordinator 

    • Coordinate with vendors and customers

    • Field inquiries and follow up with requests

    • Manage contracts

  • Technical assistance to members or clients (regulatory compliance, business development, etc.)

  • Customer service and member attainment - including following up with contacts for tours and event inquiries, scheduling tours, providing pricing, organizing vendors, and following up post tour for contracts and payment

  • Member retention - engage members by following up with them regularly to ensure that the membership is working for them, discuss changes for next month, retrain them on equipment and/or cleaning when necessary, help with specialty equipment and special requests.

As manager of the facility management duties also include monitoring the following:

  • Standard operating procedures compliance

  • Safe food handling procedures

  • Cleanliness and sanitation

  • Safety and security monitoring

  • Cleaning and shared-wares supplies

  • Refrigeration temperatures

  • Storage management

  • Waste management

  • Routine maintenance and equipment inspection

  • Monitoring logs and checklists

Monthly tasks include the following:

  • Reconciling accounts and ensuring that all members’ Food Corridor accounts are current, including payment methods and all documents.

  • Reviewing billing to ensure all additional hours, a la carte, and storage charges are billed monthly

  • Maintain inventory of plateware, glassware, flatware, and additional event space supplies.

  • Chemical inventory and ordering

  • Light equipment maintenance - changing filters, cleaning ice machines, 

This position requires facility management, food service knowledge, and administrative oversight, and a high level of emotional intelligence to communicate with all types of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. A strong ability to communicate effectively is vital for this position and the ability to follow through and all tasks and duties until completion. Positive attitude, ability to think outside the box, inspire creativity, and problem solve. Passion for our kitchen’s mission and the community of Santa Fe are also a must.

Experience and skills required:

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States

  • 5 plus years experience in food service, front and back of the house or hospitality management

  • Experience with office management

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Hospitality Management) or equivalent work experience

  • Organizational skills and detail oriented

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with diverse populations

  • Ability to multitask and follow through on completing all assigned tasks.

Experience and skills preferred

  • Previous experience in a kitchen setting or office management position preferred. 

Expected workload and schedule

This is a salaried position that will start at 30 hours per week and grow to 40 hours per week, and will require working outside of normal business. 

Physical requirements - must be able to lift 30 pounds and stand for extended periods. The employee will comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000 depending on experience
